UPDATED: HN READERS DONATE EMERGENCY COLD WEATHER SURVIVAL… – hyannisnews.com

First, an update: HN has just learned that Mary is being put up in a hotel this evening and possibly will be in that hotel until March!

Second, temps are dropping close to single digits this evening. If anyone knows of any homeless individuals stranded on the streets or in the woods, please contact me or have them contact me. HN readers have been gathering clothing, blankets, and other items and I have referred them to donate those items to any of the established shelters or homeless service agencies. And readers have also donated emergency sleeping bags and body warmers… which are small, easy to carry and in high demand on the streets right now. I have an amble supply now and will distribute as best I can… but if any agency that deals with the homeless needs these things during this cold snap, please contact me so we can get these supplies onto the streets.

Thank you HN Readers for caring for our homeless!

UPDATE – 1/12/22: The following HN Video highlights a conversation with Mary early Tuesday morning – 1/11/22 – just hours before temperatures plummeting toward single digits. At the time of this video, Mary’s safety was very much uncertain… but as we all now know, Mary reached out to the St. Joseph’s shelter and was fortunate to be placed into an overflow hotel room last evening. HN has also learned Mary may be able to remain in that hotel room until March. Mary called HN last evening in high spirits. She said she got to take a long hot shower – she says lasted almost two hours! – and that she was currently feeling very safe and relieved. Mary was overcome with gratitude and very much appreciates the love and support she has received from HN readers.
